For his second exhibition at our gallery, Simon Feydieu is once again challenging the concept of a group show by borrowing, confronting, altering, plagiarizing, amplifying or reducing the works of other selected artists.
As satires of frustrations and projections soothe his aesthetic sensibilities, the works presented become the object of an unrestrained and ironic appropriation. The works initially selected function as a kind of sculptural raw material; Simon Feydieu is shifting the challenge of curating from issues concerning space, towards issues of the object itself.
It is no longer a question of bringing these works together and spatialising them, or of integrating them within a stage setting, but of exploiting them and confronting them with one another in a densely presented format. By creating such a self-reflecting exhibition space, a miniature version appears, multiplying the interventionist process. Simon Feydieu is, in this way, directly testing the porosity and the autonomy of certain works through a play on association, digression and formal variation.
The Navidson Record presents works of Guillaume Abdi, Cédric Alby, Pierre Bonnouvrier, Jean-Alain Corre, Simon Feydieu, Anna Kleberg, Leopold Landrichter, Magali Lefebvre, Caroline Molusson and Orion Scohy.
